Have you ever thought to yourself “I am stuck in a rut and don’t know how to get out!”
Why and how does this happen? The bottom line is that there is a result that you want and yet you keep trying to achieve it in the same way that’s NOT working and expecting a different result. Insanity, right?
Why would anyone do this??
Here are some reasons why:
- Sunken Cost Fallacy – This happens when you have already invested so much time, effort, money or whatever else into this thing and you just can’t quit now kind of thinking. (think doubling down in Vegas when you are already losing your shirt)
- Wishful or Fantasy Thinking – Here’s where all of your childhood fairy tales kick in and you think “Oh, won’t it be wonderful when…(fill in the blank here)” Yet there are red flags everywhere telling you otherwise. This is the moment when you need to wake up and see reality and decide in “real” time what are you going to do.
- Intermittent Reinforcement – This happens when sometimes it really does look like that thing is actually going to happen. The problem with this kind of thinking is that you may not be seeing the situation in the “big picture”
So, what are some ways out of this?? Tune in with us TODAY for “How to Stop Spinning Your Wheels” and find out!
